HOW WE GOT STARTED – a little History

We were established in 1946 by the Rev. Ruben Jones who worked in the mills to support his family until he obeyed the call of God to begin this great ministry. He and his wife Helen West Jones, his son, Efton, and two daugthers, Joyce and Kay would be on their way to a walk of divine destiny that would leave a heritage and a legacy to their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the generations to follow. The work grew and was chartered in 1949.

A group of God fearing men got together with Rev. Jones and spent many many hours in prayer and times of fasting to hear from the Lord and to receive direction from the Holy Spirit on how to organize and establish this powerful network of ministry.

Throughout the years, under the leadership of Rev. Jones, many churches were established and many ministers ordained to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rev. Jones’ ministry included tent revivals that saw great signs and wonders with numerous healings of all manner of afflictions. Souls were saved and changed as this man of God proclaimed the Gospel throughout the east coast. He had dozens of radio programs as he was determined to get the message out about Christ. 

He also established an Outreach Mission Program that has helped thousands of people throughout the years that would not have gotten the help any other way.

After the home going of our founding father, his daughter, Rev. Dr. Joyce Jones Bryant was privileged and honored to be divinely appointed to the position of President and General Overseer of this Spirit filled Association.

Rev. Dr. Bryant was 3 years old when her father was born again. She traveled with him in ministry and played the organ and accordian in his revival meetings. During the years of ministry with her father, she became the Overseer of a Bible based Summer Youth Camp in the Association. This ministry began in 1962 and is still in operation today. She became the Director of all of the Youth Work and held State Wide Prayer Meetings and Youth Rallies. This ministry has seen hundreds of young people come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Many have gone on to be Pastors, Preachers, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles, which have opened other churches and ministries in and outside of this Association. She has also continued the Outreach Mission Program in memory of her father.

This Association was birthed through a vision to reach the simple man, the one that is so often overlooked. Rev. Jones saw the need to reach out to the unloved, unwanted, hopeless, and heartbroken by the things of this life and give them the hope that is only found in Jesus.
